The Bangladesh Computer Society is regarded as the leading professional and learned society in the field of computers and information systems in Bangladesh. It was established on 23 July 1979. Since its inception, the organization has been playing a significant role in professional development, digitization and implementation of e-governance of Bangladesh government. Professor Dr. Abdul Matin Patwari, Former Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh University of Engineering & Technology and Late National Professor Dr. Jamilur Reza Chowdhury formed the Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS). This professional body of IT professionals is working for Hon'ble Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to fulfill the targets of Bangladesh Delta Plan 2100, Vision-2021/2041 of Digital Bangladesh and Smart Bangladesh. The Society also induces a spirit of professionalism, social responsibility and a deep sense of patriotism. BCS provides many opportunities to grow professionally and intellectually as well-rounded human beings. Today, this Society remains a front-running organization and is making it contribution felt in the region and beyond. I feel a sense of great pride, responsibility & accountability for being at the helm of such a prestigious organization. IT professionals are the keys for the knowledge-based society and they are definitely playing the highest role for accommodating the essence of emerging technology and hastening the arrival of prosperous Bangladesh through introducing e-economy. The members of this vibrant organization run ICT systems in all the government and non-government offices. They are driving the vision of Digital Bangladesh and playing significant roles in making Bangladesh poverty-free through introducing and enhancing ICT-based systems and infrastructures. The organization comprises of experts from all sectors including ICT professionals, academicians and government policy-makers. It is very urgent for all members of BCS to be active and united under the umbrella of BCS not only for the development of their professional future life but also for the development of the nation. BCS is ensuring better service for its members through gradually transforming its office as a paper-less and working for the professional development by organizing training, summit, workshops and so on. I wish all members of BCS would build themselves to lead future Bangladesh in the era of Industry 4.0 through the implementation of digital Bangladesh & Smart Bangladesh. Long live Bangladesh Computer Society (BCS)!
